The Shibuya International Music Academy (SIMA) was founded with the objective of teaching young people the joy of music and to lead rich, globally conscious lives through music. The Academy is operated by the Japan Academy Philharmonic, the premier orchestra comprised of both professionals and preprofessional students in Japan.
Located in central Tokyo, the Shibuya Studio boasts excellent access by public transportation and a Steinway Grand Model B. Students receive first-rate instruction from pianist Yukino Kano, extensively active in both performance and teaching in London and Tokyo. Lessons are available in either English or Japanese, including preparation for British ABRSM examinations.
Study chamber music with fellow students!
Do you miss the long afternoons spent playing with classmates in the school playground after class? Here at the Shibuya International Music Academy, we hope that students can engage in the same social and team-building experience by making chamber music together. Professional artist-faculty from the Japan Academy Philharmonic serve as coaches to SIMA student ensembles and share in the joys and challenges of preparing chamber works. Not only will students gain a higher understanding of music, but they will also acquire teamwork skills essential to succeeding in a global environment.
Nurture your individuality.
In addition to student recitals, social events provide opportunities to discuss issues not directly related to piano lessons in a fun, easygoing setting. By reinforcing communication between student and teacher, we hope these events will clarify and further students' goals and objectives.
